Welcome to Morph 2.0.1 Demo for the Power Macintosh!
This version of Morph 2.0 includes support for the Power Macintosh. It is nearly identical to the standard Morph 2.0, except that it will utilize the instruction set of the PowerPC processor instead of running in 68K emulation if it can do so.
This version should not be taken as an indication of Gryphon's plans for Morph with respect to PowerPC support, but rather an example of the possibilities that a hybrid application may have.
Technically, this program includes an executable code resource that is written to take advantage of the PowerPC instruction set. When Morph detects that it is running with the PowerPC processor, that code resource is used instead of the equivalent 68K code normally used, only during the computation of the morph image. The remainder of Morph (at least for this version) is run in emulation. If the PowerPC is not detected, then the program will run normally. This demo program is approximately 7K larger than the 68K-only version.
We have found this version of Morph to be several times faster when running native than not. The standard version of Morph actually runs quite well even when completely under emulation due to the already extensive use of optimized Toolbox calls.
